The new Centaur range of battery chargers from Victron Energy has been designed to be a truly global product. Universal compliance and input/output specifications are key features of the new range from the well-established Dutch manufacturer. Designed to meet the requirements of CE for Europe and UL for the USA, the Centaur range of models feature a self-ranging input covering 90-265VAC 50/60Hz, meaning they can be used anywhere in the world.
Unlike other products that claim universal input, the Centaur range maintains maximum output power throughout the specified range. The Centaur model also operates with a 90-400 VDC input, making it a perfect charging DC-DC converter in a diesel-electric system. Other features include a fully automatic three-level charging feature that ensures batteries are fully charged every time and three isolated charging outputs for multi-battery setups that suit the majority of typical installations.
The range includes 12V and 24V models from 16A to 100A. The fact that the same product is suitable for any boat, regardless of the target market or the place where the boat will be used, is a great advantage for the builder and the owner of the boat. Aware of the price sensitivity in this competitive market, a unique range of models for all markets also means more competitive costs.
